Ralph Cossey Jr. moved to Killeen in December 2006 to be near an ailing family member. He left his adult children and music ministry at Christian Life Church to establish a peaceful residence in Texas before retirement from Oracle Corporation where he now works managing a team of highly skilled and motivated software engineers.
After a short time in Killeen, Mr. Cossey was keenly aware that community service was the way to a good life, and applied for two of the city's volunteer committees and was invited to join the Celebrate Killeen committee in April 2008. While in the committee Mr. Cossey produced statistical reports required to secure entertainment grants which provided enjoyment to the city's children during the Celebrate Killeen Festival and annual Christmas Parade and festival.
Ralph Cossey takes a strong stand on several issues that concern citizens in Killeen. Among these issues are:
- The full use of technology to make our government administration better, smarter, and cheaper and accessible to the public;
- The nurturing of culture, arts and beauty;
- Preparing infrastructure for growth while maintaining or updating existing communities;
- Protection of homeowner's property values by smart monitoring of zoning and cloning of housing subdivisions.
- Incentives for small bushiness to maintain jobs and commerce
- Crime prevention includes community involvement - not just law enforcement.
